Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What is the difference between a Credit Union and a Bank?
A:  Credit unions are  member-owned, not for profit financial institutions.   They are democratically ran financial cooperatives, which means that every person that has an account is a member and partial owner.  Members elect the Board of Directors who represent the members for planning and strategic decisions within the credit union.  Since credit unions are not-for profit financial organizations, there aren't owners and shareholders seeking a share of the profits.  Operating income is returned to members  in the form of higher interest rates on savings, lower interest rates on loans and lower or no fees.
Credit Unions offer most of the same services as banks, but the services are named differently.  A share account compares to a savings account and a share draft account is comparable to a checking account.
Q: Who can join?
A: Membership in Frick Tri-County Federal Credit Union is open to any person who lives, works or worships in Fayette, Washington and Greene counties.  Membership is also available to any employee or retiree of one of our Select Employee Groups, to spouses of persons who died while within the field of membership and to the family members aforementioned related by blood or marriage.
If you find that you are eligible, complete the form below and return it to the credit union with proof of eligibility, drivers' license and an opening $50.00 deposit.
Q:  What is a "Routing Number" and where do I find it?
A:  A routing number is used to identify a specific financial institution.  Each financial institution has their own number, which is usually 9 digits.  This number can be found on the bottom left corner of your checks.  The Frick Tri-County FCU routing number is 243385155.
Q:  Are savings deposits insured?
A:  Yes.  All savings accounts are insured up to $250,000 by the NCUA, the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the federal government.
Q: When I log in to home banking, I get a message saying "Invalid Username or Password."
A: The Account Number used by Home Banking is your personal VRU number. This number is found on the top right hand corner of your monthly statement. Your initial password is the first 5 digits of your Social Security Number. For security reasons, we recommend changing this password to something different. You can do this once you are logged in.

Q: I registered for Online Banking, but still can't log in.
A: New accounts are processed once each business day. Please allow one full business day for your account to become active. You will receive a confirmation email once your home banking account has been setup.

Q: I still have problems using the website and Online Services.
A: You can email member services at or for immediate assistance during business hours, call the Uniontown Office at 1-800-SAY-FRICK.
